Water Towers Around the World
From Saudi Arabia to Texas to Sweden, you’ll find iconic water towers of different shapes and sizes. By definition, a water tower is a structure supporting a watertank and is elevated to a height sufficient to pressurize a water supply system. With more elevation comes greater pressure, which helps ensure the water can flow far and wide and avoid toxic contaminants from groundwater.
Designers choose all sorts of decorations for the external shell of these towers. Some print their town’s name or icon/mascot on the outside, others sport advertisements, and some are pristine examples of aesthetic trends.
